Our Wedding

It All Started with Baseball...

Our journey began on November 3, 2022, when Rachael and William separately attended a NATCA (National Air Traffic Controllers Association) event at Pinstripes in Oak Brook, IL. While chatting with people from other Air Traffic facilities in the area, they found themselves in a conversation. Though neither admitted this until later, they both had a feeling that the other person was someone they needed to get to know better..... William asked Rachael for a tour of O'Hare tower and the two exchanged numbers. Over the next few months they talked a bit, then on March 30th, 2023 William had to call Rachael at work for an air traffic coordination. Immediately after going on break, Rachael texted William...and they haven't stopped talking since! Their first date (though neither initially admitted it was a date) would be May 2, 2023 at a Sox game vs the Twins, which would later become a yearly tradition. William officially asked Rachael to be his girlfriend on May 24, 2023!

The Proposal

William devised a perfect plan that caught Rachael completely by surprise! On July 30, 2025, William offered to take Rachael out to dinner. After Rachael unknowingly tried to foil his plan by insisting they stayed home, he eventually convinced her to go out for drinks in St Charles, IL. After having a drink, William suggested walking down by the river to another bar. Unbeknownst to Rachael, William had coordinated with her family and close friends to be staged nearby. After bringing her to the waterfront, William got down on one knee and asked her to marry him! At that time, their friends lowered the drones that had been recording them the whole time and the group emerged from the background in applause. Our reception venue, Sky on Nine, is located on the top floor of the hotel. A free shuttle is available from Chicago O’Hare International Airport. Parking is $20 per night through the hotel if you bring a car. This is the only hotel we have a pre-reserved room block. Click the link below to book your room in our block. Note: the link defaults to 3 nights (Sept 10-Sept 13), but you can modify the dates of your stay. If it says “only a few rooms left” don’t worry, additional rooms can be added to the block if needed! *Rooms must be booked by August 10, 2026* For those flying in, no need to rent a car if you don't want to! Between the shuttle from the airport and the on-site restaurant (plus walkable restaurants nearby), it's not necessary to rent a car.

Holiday Inn Chicago O'Hare - Rosemont, an IHG Hotel

Our reception venue and hotel block is an 11-minute drive from Chicago O’Hare. A complimentary shuttle to/from the hotel is included with our room block at the Holiday Inn Chicago O’Hare - Rosemont, and most of the hotels in the area do the same.

Located 3.1 miles from our reception venue is an area with several restaurants (we recommend Fat Rosie’s and Crust Brewing!), bars, a movie theater, and a bowling alley to enjoy if you arrive in town early! There is a parking garage on site or it is an easy Uber from the hotel.

For those wishing to visit the Windy City, it can be accessed via the Rosemont Blue Line stop on the Chicago ‘El’, located at 5801 N River Rd, Rosemont, IL, 2.1 miles from our reception venue.

This bar/restaurant is located in the lobby of our hotel/venue! Perfect place to hangout, and all you have to do is take the elevator upstairs to your room.

We recognize and appreciate that many of you are traveling from afar to be with us in Chicagoland on our big day. Therefore, we are inviting ALL guests to a pre-wedding party in the days leading up to the big day. Don't leave us hanging the week leading up to the celebration. Come to the pre-celebration, we will make it worth your time!

Therefore, William will be hosting a trip downtown via a TRAIN (he loves trains) for lunch and tourist activities. Potential attractions:Lake or Architecture tour. 2 or 3pm-ish: Top Golf Schaumburg. If you don't have a car no worries! We've got plenty of people that can give rides. Dinnertime: Crust Brewing (it's good, trust us). After party: Rivers Casino. It's always optional, but we promise a good time. There's also a plethora of bars in the Rosemont area for some after dinner cocktails.

Late Morningish: Bowling at King's Bowling Rosemont. You don't need a car, we got you. RSVP via text. Yes, text us during wedding week, it's ok, we promise! 3PM-on. Okay... so we have this rehearsal business to take care of, so if you aren't in the wedding party, you're on your own (sorry). Later in the evening, we’ll be hanging out in the bar/restaurant located in the hotel lobby (Land &amp; Lake) if you want to stop by and say hi! The party continues Saturday!
